چکیده
Objective: To compare the frequency of good functional outcome frontalis suspension surgery using silicone rod versus prolene 4/0 suture in simple congenital ptosis. Study Design: Hospital Based Comparative Study. Setting: Department Ophthalmology, Khyber Teaching Hospital, Peshawar. Period: June to August 2018. Material & Methods: This study was performed on 70 randomly selected patients divided two groups (A and B) having 35 each group. Patients with poor levator function (≤5mm), moderate severe ptosis Bell’s phenomenon either gender age range 5-25 years were included study. Good considered as achieved when marginal reflex distance is more than or equal 1 mm, not less mm physical examination after 3 months procedure. Results: In Group A, mean recorded 12+6.31 while duration procedure 52+3.08. B, 15+4.76 55+1.82. A total 88.5% 62.85% B respectively. Stratification respect shows that statistically significant group 16-25 years. Conclusion: ptosis, an excellent safety profile comparison silicon rod.

متن کاملAnalysis of the causes of recurrence after frontalis suspension using silicone rods for congenital ptosis
BACKGROUND Silicone rod is a commonly used synthetic suspension material in frontalis suspension surgery to correct blepharoptosis. The most challenging problem and a decisive drawback of the use of silicone rod is a considerable rate of ptosis recurrence after surgery. We examined patients with recurred ptosis and assessed the physical and micromorphological properties of implanted silicone ro...
